Microneedling + EcoTone is a customized, two-step skin-renewal treatment combining Dermapen 4™ microneedling with light fractional CO₂ resurfacing using our Cynosure Lutronic eCO2 Plus.
Each technology works differently. Microneedling supports collagen renewal within the skin, while EcoTone lightly resurfaces the skin’s surface to improve visible tone and texture.
Together, they provide a multi-level approach for clients looking to improve fine lines, uneven texture, sun damage, enlarged-looking pores, dullness and selected types of scarring.

How This TreatmentWorks
STEP ONE: DERMAPEN 4 MICRONEEDLING
Dermapen 4 uses precise, vertically moving needles to create controlled microchannels in the skin. These micro-injuries activate the skin’s natural repair response and support the production of collagen and elastin.
STEP TWO: ECOTONE LIGHT RESURFACING
EcoTone uses fractional CO₂ laser energy to create microscopic treatment zones while leaving surrounding skin intact. This light resurfacing step targets visible tone, texture and surface irregularities.
COLLAGEN REMODELLING
Following treatment, the skin begins a gradual renewal process. Improvements continue developing as the skin heals and collagen remodelling takes place.
What To Expect During Treatment
ASSESSMENT AND PREPARATION
Your appointment includes time for skin assessment, preparation, comfort measures and both treatment steps.
THE TREATMENT
Dermapen 4 microneedling is performed first, followed by a customized EcoTone treatment. The intensity of each step is selected according to your skin, treatment area and goals.
COMFORT AND DOWNTIME
Comfort measures are used to make the treatment as manageable as possible.
Because this protocol combines two treatments, you should expect more visible recovery than with microneedling alone. Temporary redness, warmth and swelling may occur, followed by dryness, rough texture, bronzing or light flaking as the skin renews.
Most clients should plan for several days of visible recovery, although individual experiences vary.
TREATMENT PLAN
Some clients choose a single treatment for a seasonal refresh, while others may benefit from a personalized series. Your provider will recommend a plan based on your concerns, skin response and desired outcome.

MICRONEEDLING ALONE
Often selected for gradual collagen support, mild textural concerns and less visible recovery.
MICRONEEDLING + ECOTONE
Adds light fractional CO₂ resurfacing to address surface tone and texture alongside microneedling’s collagen-renewal benefits.
DEEPER eCO2 RESURFACING
May be recommended for more significant wrinkles, deeper scarring, advanced sun damage or substantial textural concerns. Deeper resurfacing also involves more downtime.
During your consultation, we’ll recommend the option that best matches your skin, goals and preferred recovery time.
Who is Not a Candidate / When to Postpone Treatment
Microneedling + EcoTone may not be appropriate for everyone. Your provider will review your medical history, medications, current skincare and skin condition before treatment.
You may be asked to postpone treatment if you have:
• An active skin infection or cold-sore outbreak
• Open lesions in the treatment area
• Active or significantly inflamed acne
• A recent sunburn or substantial tan
• Significant irritation or a compromised skin barrier
• A medical condition or medication that may affect healing
• A history of abnormal or keloid scarring requiring further assessment
If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, we can review whether treatment should be deferred based on your individual situation.
Aftercare Highlights
You’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions at your appointment. In general, most clients are advised to:

Use gentle skincare and keep the skin well-hydrated while healing

Wear daily SPF and avoid direct sun exposure during recovery

Avoid heat, heavy sweating, and picking or exfoliating while the skin is healing
Safety, Standards, and Follow-up
Microneedling + EcoTone is a medical aesthetic treatment performed using an advanced, medically directed protocol.
Our providers have completed advanced Cynosure training and follow established procedures for patient assessment, treatment customization, infection prevention, laser safety and post-treatment care.
A follow-up may be recommended to assess healing and determine whether additional treatment would be beneficial.
